Money on 2010 as the market is back. Carbon footprint rant later
from laptop

2010 will be a great year. Starting off with fun in January (more on

Tuesday in the Rain

News Cycle will continue for a while....  Can't say that I envy anyone flying for a while?  Maybe one should take the train?  Listened to a podcast about food stamps and that the program is going for want but when you look closer it takes lots of paperwork..  Oh well........  Just don't feel that important today and tummy upset from I am sure too much rich food over the last few days with the boys home.  It has been fun to have the boys both here at the same time...  More later....

Monday Last Holiday Week

Coffee stop in old town to read the Weekend IHT (will save Mon issue
for later at lunch). Tourists already out n about. A bit of work @
school but the bike in will be nice and peaceful through the back
streets of the city. Will meet family for lunch later. At least the
international news will be a relief from US politics Healthcare n
Airport Security. Question: when is the proper time to put away
decorations n tree out for collection? Ciao

Tech or Teach or Just Do It?

OK have mastered the update of the blog from iPhone now am sortineg out Google Reader and figuring out more apps for my iPhone.....Watched and / or listened to the news shows today with nothing new to speak of:  Airport delays, sitting in your seat for a long time.........  Yemen is our next port of call for war according to Newt......  Health Care still a debackle.....  Charlie Sheen true to real life in Aspen.......  Can't get interested in the Brazil Son and Dad thing but do enjoy the Tacoma News Tribune online as it takes the same amount of time to browse it online as it does to read it when it is delivered to the house in Old Town.  Back to the gym starting tomorrow to couple it with bike rides each day............. Disciplne and a set schedule will solve all ills??  Talking with friends on the phone is still fun. but then is texting.........  Almost finished with Crichton's last book Pirate Latitudes: Fun Read...  On the Seamus front, trimmed his nails on his front paws so he is happy and asleep on his pillow.  Iain and I waiting to watch Apocalypse Now in a few minutes Cold Bock Beer in the fridge and Wasabi Nuts for snacks...........  And did I mention the barcalounger?  Ciao

Sunday AM @ Casa del Cafe in the Aldstat

A bit chilly this AM but good to be out on my bike. The streets are
quiet and I always enjoy riding up n down the side streets on the
Neuenheimer side (my side) of the river. Made the bakery run and
dropped off goodies for home and across the bridge to have morning
coffee and read the IHT sitting outside. The sun is crisp and clear
and just now clearing the rooftops here in the old part of the city.
The church bells are pealing away as it is coming up on the hour.
Plan to enjoy the day with a ride, cook, and perhaps while away some
tome with Seamus reading and walking as I reloaded up the iPhone with
new podcasts! Ciao from my little spot in the world in the waining
days of 2009!!

TV Marathon and other inconsequential items of no interest..... @ 2315 hours

Boxing Day almost over........  No signal on SKY so it means a bowl game on AFN and laptop on my lap......  Seamus thinking about a snack with his heart pill, Iain out with friends and Ross Reading.   I am a little tired of the senators, govenors, and reps giving holiday greetings on AFN.  Now Tim Reid from WRsomithing in Cincinnatti fame giving a holiday greeting,  They didn't ask me........  At least they don't have Glenn Beck.......  Must plan to do something constructive Sunday.......  Maybe an earlier morning trek to bakery and coffee shop with reading material in hand........  Have to admit I watch a marathon sitting of Sons of Anarchy TV show........  Unbelieveable story line but I like the set group of actors......  OH well  wonder how it feels to fly Delta or any other international flight today or later more security and unbelievable....Pitt playing better against NC...... And some of the game balls on the Pitt rotations they use old balls from old games........  Crazy........  Enough for now...........  Tempted to do a bit of online shopping and see if there really are bargains.......  have been srufing looking at top iPhone apps to add to my beloved and cherished iPhone...............  Just wish I could figure out how to use Skype with it......... Ciao

Shopping Day in America??

Sat morning the day after Xmas and in America everyone would be at least thinking about shopping.  Here most shops are closed for holiday weekend.  The bells of several churches are ringing as it is almost 1000 hours.  Seamus already had his morning constitutional and is settling in for his morning nap on the couch.  Boys are starting to rouse and the coffee is not bad this AM, a mix of decaf and caff from Caribou mail order.  Will take boys on a long bike ride down the river and then find lunch somewhere.  They want a short day trip to France so that will be in order for Sunday or Monday.  Quiet at school so the week will pass quickly.  Too Quickly as January 2010 is almost here.  Seems strange to write that 10 years ago we were waking up on this day in Guam with all of the family together and I was probably planning on golf at Anderson....  Like veryone else a bit of dieting is in store after the prep for winter......  Exercise never hurts.....  The knees ache a bit but oh well......  Need to catch up on the news MSNBC and SKY and BBC and of course the other "entertainment" news on Fox.  The iPhone is great for short burst of regular updates......   Iraq, Afghan, Pakistan, Weather in Mid US, Health Care, Economy, where to put your money for 2010, and do youshift your retirement funds now for the stock market run that we all hope will happen in the first quarter?   Do I need to be thoughtful and profound this AM (Couldn't spell esoterical right without spellcheck?)  Working on a MAC this AM anyway.........  Will post a pic collection later.   I think I need a haricut and beard trimming, sure do miss the Italian Barbers from SHAPE.  There is always personal paperwork to wade through as well..........  Time to get outside for fresh air and exercise.......  Will try to figure out how to update blog from iPhone today as well.  Ciao

Seamus

Seamus on the mend and sleeping peacefully through the afternoon.  Had a bit of scare with him yesterday.  After all he is going on 9+ and has a heart murmur and takes his medicine every evening........  He does enjoy his naps though.....

End of Year Donations

RR got be interested in Kiva.Org.  I donate to Mercy Corps and now will add Kiva to the list.......  It is really a great venue for 'giving something back' and being able to see the benefits.......  Mercy Corps does a great job as well.  Interesting trying to keep all of the balls juggling with different venues for speaking and sharing with the world...... Twitter, FB, Blog, Emails etc etc............  Still trying to get my head wrapped around 'cloud computing'  Ciao

Xmas Day Noonish

Presents done, Grama singing songs, well actually humming and maing noises that sound like singing... She is afterall a month shy of 93, wheelchair bound, and sometimes just raises her arm ala Dr. Strangelove...... Boys off to the gym Turkey breasts need some tender loving care and prep before they hop into the oven.... Still windy but Seamus on the mend........ Starbucks Coffee brewed (sorry for the comercialism) and will break into the Caribou Reindeer Blend later. Good to now our president is in Hawaii and all is sort of well with Health Care...... Now the fight as they blend the two (House and Senate Versions) together. Top 10 movie lists out and will try and see some of them, agree with "Hurt Locker" as I saw it this summer in Seattle. Others obscure but am intrigued with "Avatar" but want to see it on big screen. Favorite music artist album of the year for me has to be a tie between Ani DiFranco and Imojean Heap. So much for RR and his ravings about U2. Must think about other ideas and year end lists. Caught Gates and Buffet on an CNBC doc last night talking about 2009 Econmy. Pretty good Enough for now......
Here goes............ Grama up, a bit windy off the river, the boys are sleeping, Seamus seems better and now it might be time to turn on the lights of the tree...... Sausages and peppers about done on the range and time for another pot of coffee. Let the day begin....... 25/12/09 !
